The true origin of lemons is not entirely known, although it is though to originate from India. Its cultivation was recorded in Egypt around 700 CE, and it was unknown in Europe until Alexander the Great brought it back from China. In China, lemon was used as an antidote for poison, and it was also used as an antiseptic on wounds (ouch!).
